AN IMROVED COGNITIVE RADIO SYSTEM ALGORITHM FOR WIDEBAND SATELLITE-TERRESTRIAL WIRELESS MOBILE NETWORK

Abstract
Wireless Mobile Communication (WMC) services offered by 5G have been slowed down because of the shortage of radio frequency resources. This is because, static mobile policies and excessive radio resources consumption by increasing wireless mobile devices and users causes congestion in the limited mobile spectrum. Hence, there is need to decongest the static mobile spectrum by overcoming spectral wastage in other unused static bands. This research aimed at synergizing Satellite Mobile Network (SMN) and Terrestrial Mobile Network (TMN), using Centralized Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CCSS) technique of Cognitive Radio Network (CRN). The CCSS proposed in this work is the Listen-before-Talk (LbT) method, where the Secondary Users (SUs) adopt proactive approach about the Primary User (PU) availability. The required threshold and waveform was attained using Feedback Filtered Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (FF-OFDM) novel scheme as an antidote. The results were validated and compared with those of Spread Slotted ALOHA (SSA) cognitive induced scheme using data transmission efficiency and throughput as performance measures. The throughput of the FF-OFDM CR system with packets transmitted (P_tra) was tested under null detection probability (P_nd) in a fixed channel state, false alarm probability (P_fa) in a fixed channel state, and P_fa in dynamic channel state; it was found to achieve an improvement over SSA CRN system by 81%, 83.4%, and 88.4%, respectively. With this, the interference links that separate licensed and unlicensed spectrum bands, in both satellite and terrestrial networks are autonomously open up for communication to increase the system bandwidth that amount to Gigahertz (GHz).
